There are times when I get so frustrated with myself for being uber tourist and it's one of those things where I can't make myself just chill. So being that our hotel was in Georgetown, coupled with the fact that I'm a reality tv junky, I would soon find myself standing in the forever long line just to get some Georgetown Cupcakes. The line there is literally a minimum of twenty people deep at any given time. We stopped by in the morning, the line is long, we decide to check back later. We stopped by a second time in the afternoon, the line is still long, we decide to again check back later. We stopped by a third time in the evening and even though the line is still long, we decide to finally just suck it up and wait. So we wait. And we were literally minutes from being let into that darn cupcake shop when miss flowerchild tells me that we have to leave cos her friend who lives in dc can not find georgetown cupcakes. If there is one thing that drives me up the wall ... it's a bad driver. And when that bad driver is also horrible with directions ... argh. I mean, i haven't even met this girl yet and already she has two strikes against her! Haha. Georgetown is basically one main street and that is 'M' street. There's another street that is also perpendicular to M street but you mostly go up and down M street. So all this girl had to do was drive down one street. But she's so bad with directions that even though she was already on M street, she supposedly didn't know where to go. OMG. So we get out of line and walk the ten blocks to where she was pulled over to the side of the road, five feet from the curb. I know it's bad that i'm ranking on this girl, but i need u to know how much i am irked by this. I suggested that she redo her parallel parking. And after ten tries, she was just two feet from the curb. At that point it wasn't just me shaking my head, miss flowerchild was about to take over the parallel parking. If you ask big poppa, he will tell you how i have no patience with this kinda stuff. Once the whole car debacle was over, all was well again. I met her and she was really sweet. But she will never drive me anywhere. Hah! Since I still didn't get my cupcakes, we tried the line again the next morning and we were finally successful. We ordered some cupcakes and also bought their t-shirts. Yeah yeah. It's everyone elses turn to shake their heads at me now. We saw one of the owners sitting at a table in the back with her back turned to the customers. Must be tough becoming so famous! The cupcakes were okay. Nothing special. What I will say is that they have a LOT of variety. We got a red velvet, vanilla birthday, chocolate hazelnut, lemon blossom and a cherry blossom. I've come to the conclusion that all cupcakes are basically the same. It's really all about the marketing tactics used. Since it was still pretty early, we toted the box of cupcakes with us all around D.C. and lemme tell ya, that pink box makes for some conversation everywhere you go. It was raining a lot that day and the paper bag that held our pink box of cupcakes eventually tore and pink box of cupcakes went tumbling to the ground. Our poor cupcakes got all smushed so I didn't get to take a pretty picture of them. You almost heard gasps from the people all around us when that pink box hit the ground. They're super popular there.
