Event: Texas Big Beat

I've been on a drum kick lately. I love the beat of the drum and I really want to learn how to be a drummer. One day maybe! But for now, big poppa and I will have to settle for the Texas Big Beat. Drummers from nine other cities, including Houston, synced together to break he record for the most drummers drumming a 6-minute rock beat. It was pretty cool and very loud! There were girls, guys, big people and little people. It was pretty cool to watch everyone just drumming together. A song would start playing and people would just jump right in with their beats. All the loud drumming did make it kinda hard for the emcee to do her thing. It would take like three minutes to quiet everyone down to get the next thing going. But what do you expect? If I had a drum kit in front of me, I'd be banging away at it too! Money raised from this event went to help charities such as Cherish Our Children International and Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation.

We were entertained with an awesome performance by some students from Shadydale Elementary. Check out the fierce expressions on their faces! Tyra would be proud.

Trippin' - Las Vegas: Paris

This will have been my third trip to sin city. There are so many hotels to choose from that I've pretty much stayed at different places for each visit. The first time I went, I was at Luxor. It was a cool hotel but it's at the very beginning of the strip so it's a bit inconvenient to be able to visit all the other hotels and casinos. I went there a second time to celebrate the new year. Super fun! We booked our reservations a bit late and there wasn't much of an option so we had to stay at the Flamingo. It actually isn't bad at all! They've got a lot of renovations going on and there's this gorgeous courtyard in the back that had this penguin exhibit. They were so CUTE! So now that I think back, the hotel was actually really decent. Anyhow, so this time around, 2X's sister booked us two rooms at Paris. I'm not sure if I really feel like I'm in Paris when I'm inside but I sure do feel like it just waiting around outside. You have a mock-up of the Eiffel Tower as well as the Arc de Triomphe. The spelling is prolly off on that. The Eiffel Tower also has a restaurant you can go up to. The buffet? Eh. Not so great to me. I don't think big poppa liked it either. Oh yeah. The bf and I love watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta. And there's this girl named Kim who is dating a multi-millionaire married man and she only refers to him as big poppa. So now, the bf doesn't want to be referred to as the bf, but as big poppa. So. There you go. Happy big poppa? When the girls and I first arrived, we tried out this Crepes place and it was GOOD! Long line. But good.

When you're coming back to the hotel from all the late night partying, it's dark out, but once you step inside, it's like it's day time again. The ceiling is basically a huge blue sky and clouds mural.
