Musik Mundi: David Guetta feat Sia

David Guetta feat Sia
Album: Nothing But The Beat (2011)
Song: Titanium

This may be an old song to you but it's a new song to me. I guess i hadn't realized this album has like at least half of it's song on the airwaves already. I'm a fan of Sia's so when i recognized her voice and learned it was her singing in this track, it made me like the song even more. And it doesn't hurt that it's a great dance track. Sia's getting mainstream now with her also being on the wild ones track with flo rida. I like watching dj's like david guetta and deadmau5 cos i like how they move to the music/beat. I'm not necessarily big on house though. My line is drawn at dance beats. This weekend has been relatively the same as the past few weekends. It's mostly just me and paul doing on own thing with one friend event thrown in. Saturday night, our twin friends were having a bday thing at red door in midtown. We had never been there before but had heard that it could be hard to get in sometimes. So big poppa and i made sure to look our best so that we wouldn't get rejected with it's a private party, are you on the list bullshizzz. I wore actual heels and not my party flip flops. Of course, i packed my party flip flops in my purse and changed into them after about an hour and a half. It just hurt so bad! That place got packed like impossibly fast! I kept getting bumped into. Reminds me of how the lines are at the train stations in china. CRAZY! I think the great thing was that everyone on the dance floor was DANCING DANCING. So there was a nice wave of bopping across the crowd. There was no booty humping and bboying. Ugh. Can't stand being a victim of accidental grindings and collateral damage of a 'dance off'. I didn't really start to get my dance on until j.lo's dance again song came on. It got me hype! I really like that song. I thought about using it as my musik mundi but since i listen to my own playlist a lot, her voice would prolly drive me bonkers after awhile. The best part of my night was an aquaintance gf of mine who was telling me (and everyone else) that i was her girl crush. What?!? Who me?!? Really?!? But i'm such a hot (doughy) mess! I just answered with 'it's the bun right?' while pointing at my signature hair style. Haha.

Birthday: Laurita

When my big dirty thirty was coming around, all i wanted was to have a really fun and unique way to celebrate this milestone birthday. Alas, i couldn't come up with anything creative and ended up hosting a dinner and some dancing and a lot of drinking celebration. It was super fun cos most of my friends were there and we had much dranky time. But i am very particular about how i want things to be and sometimes i can't even live up to my own expectations. It was a success but you know, i was creatively disappointed with myself. And on top of it, i had a vision. A $200.00 vision that was crushed and desecrated. I don't mean to sound unappreciative cos i'm so grateful for how everything transpired and i really did have a super fun time. Just wish i did something more than dinner and drinking. So when co-worker friend buddy said we'd be taking a SAMBA class for her 30th, i was like MAAAANNN! That sounded so much fun. And DIFFERENT. I strive to be DIFFERENT! And it was so much fun! I worked up a great sweat and my legs were killing me. I could barely walk for two days. I love being able to just shake everything yo mama gave ya. Miss laurita has some of the most fit friends ever. I call them the lululemon bon group. Which stands for brien o'neals cos most of the are a part of the running group there. And some work at lululemon or have been ambassadors for the store. Most of these people are all marathoners and triathletes. Like 50 miles ultra marathoners and iron man triathletes. And then there's me. All pudgy and a wannabe triathlete. I should register as an athena. Not sure if it's related but two days after the samba class, i swam a PR. 1500 meters straight in the pool! Do you know how many laps that is?!? That's freaking 60 laps! And cos i lost count somewhere, i swam a couple extra laps to make sure i really did hit 1500 meters. So proud! Although, i guess i technically cheated since i did flip turns and kicked off the wall. But who cares. I went from only doing 200 meters at a time to a full 1500 meters. My fingers were getting pruny and my goggles were starting cut off circulation to my eye balls. My flip turns usually give me a lot of trouble cos my form isn't so great and it messes up my breathing. But for some reason, everything was swimmingly perfect. I had great flip turn technique and great timing. I used to be afraid of flipping too close to the wall but i managed to get within inches and not freak out. I was swimming really really really slow though. And barely kicking cos my legs were still sore. Maybe that's the key! Less kicking. To end this post on an even better note, i managed to reformat my own laptop by myself. It might seem like nothing but for those who know me, technology stuff is not my forte. I installed so much anti-virus stuff and id protection software that i can't press the shift button without a prompter asking me if i'm sure i want to continue. Haha. But oh wells. Better safe than sorry.

Paw Pals: My Babies

My lovely babies. They all are so bad and so sweet at the same time. Tino and Alfie are the cuddle bugs while neo and stewie like sleeping by themselves. It's literally a zoo at my house these days. Too much stuff. Not enough time to do the daily chores. And when i do have time, i just find myself sitting motionless while watching criminal minds. I seriously can not get enough of that show! I watched this one episode for the third or fourth time and still found myself tearing up just a little bit. My laptop at home is on the fritz. I've been allocating some time each night to begin the transfer of all things valuable into my (un)trusty little external hard drive. I hope i don't lose any FOTOS. If that happens, prepare for a great depression.

Restaurant: Jerry Built Burgers

Jerry Built Burgers is a new and REALLY COOL burger place not too far from the med center. They source whatever ingredients they can from local farmers and vendors and use organic products when possible. The bun is the best part of the burger. The meats ... well ... they're not all that wow. They also cut their own crinkle fries, prolly one of my least desirable cuts of pomme frites. Sometimes, no matter how mediocre the food is and even over-priced, you come back cos the place looks so neat. They've got one of those state of the art hand washers that i think are installed in some rudy's. And a super cool freestyle coca-cola dispenser to either drink your typical sodas or BLEND YOUR OWN. I didn't try it cos i don't drink soda but i stood and watched kids (and some adults!)have at it. It almost seems unthinkable paying so much for the food but when it comes down to it, that's the price one must pay for a fancy soda machine and eating responsibly. And can you say blue bell ice cream milkshakes! No i didn't try that either. But i really wanna. I might go back just to get a shake. At each table is a condiment caddy that has hot sauce AND sriracha. They have a TON of employees and there are people who collect your trash for you. They sort through it and recycle and compost what they can. So RESPONSIBLE i can't stand. Speaking of compost. I was supposed to start my own like a YEAR ago.

Trippin': Cairns - Daintree River Cruise

The Daintree River Cruise was a boat ride down a river with areas that had both saltwater and freshwater. The main goal was to see some crocs! The probability of it was low though because the water temp was warmer than the air temp. Why so cold cairns?!? Our skipper was pretty amazing. You could tell he was a master of these waters and the animals that call it home. He could spot little lizards and baby crocs from at least thirty feet away. And even after he did his best to show us what to look, it took me a couple of minutes to finally search out what he was trying to describe. Incredible guy. We did manage to see a good size croc that was mostly hiding in the water. The captain was telling us how deceiving the size of the croc is when the head's slightly out of the water with most of it's body in the water. It's a lot longer and bigger than you think. I think that deep down a little part of me wished for some dramatics such as a croc swimming wildly towards the boat and taking a lunge. It didn't happen and i have no exciting stories to tell. But i know how freaked out and terrified i would be if i accidently fell into the water. I would not be able to keep cool and just start thrashing around and screaming bloody murder. The one thing that clearly sticks out in my memory is how the captain was watching us intently for a minute or so. Creepy? No. He was just caught off guard by our 'american' accents. Or rather, our lack of an asian/fob accent. That city has so many asian tourists from neighboring countries so he's used to broken english or no english at all. Let's just say that i remember tour guides giving examples of what not to do, by using an example of a non-english speaking tourist, more than once.
