Restaurant: Churrascos

2055 Westheimer @ Shepherd
Houston, Texas 77098

La lengua and endo took me out to Churrascos for my bday. This was eleven months ago. Omgawd. My bday is coming up around again. Geez. This year, no celebrations involved. Just me and big poppa. I'm not a big meat eater and so places like this is just okay to me. I love chimichurri sauce though and can eat that stuff with the fried plantains all day long. I don't care where i eat as long as i'm spending it with cool people that are fun to be with. As time progresses, it becomes very clear which friends are truly happy and excited for the good things that happen to you. And then there are those who just don't seem to care. And i appreciate the ones who do and am grateful to have special people who actually LIKE ME. I sometimes can't believe i actually have friends. Haha. I have to really thank la lengua and endo for helping me with that whole scooter debacle. Geez. I'm so freaking dumb sometimes.

Trippin': Sydney - Jet Cruiser Whale Watching

Monday was my 'day off'. Rest day. Meaning no type of workout whatsoever. This actually happens much more than mondays. I didn't even go to my second job. Instead. I got to go home earlier than usual and 'cook'. Well, maybe more like prep like crazy. That's what big poppa and i do at the beginning of every week. We shop for groceries and together we make sure we have food to eat for the rest of the week. Last night i chopped chicken breast, carrots, celery, onions, garlic, tomatoes, green bell pepper, peaches, mangoes and pineapple. By the time i was done, my hand was cramping up. He cooks the protein and i saute the veg. When i tell people we do everything together, i'm not even kidding the slightest bit. Even afterwards when it's time to do the dishes, i scrub and he rinses. I'm very lucky that he's the type to always help me instead of leaving me with clean-up duty. Such a sweet boy. I think these are the things that i love most about my life right now. I know it's cheesy but i really feel i can never spend enough time with big poppa. He's my favorite person in the world.

I usually insert these journal entries with my music mundi but my hypster keeps blocking a bunch of the songs i want to use. So since time is scarce, i'm just skipping it altogether. Maybe next time kiddos.

Getting the chance to go whale watching was prolly the best part of the entire oceania trip. We boarded the jet cruiser boat that took us out towards the whales migration route. To be able to see these huge magnificent creatures in their natural home environment is nothing short of amazing. I was in awe and at the edge of my seat the entire time. I was firing away so much that my old camera over heated and shut down. I had to refer to my sisters point and shoot. We got to see them come up for air, breach and even some tail slapping. After awhile, as i always do, i started feeling really bad. There were several other whale watching boats out that day and we were all basically following these poor whales who began to feel overwhelmed. Our tour operator told us that the whales would come up higher out of water to get as much air as they could so that they could stay under water longer. And he told us that their speed was also increasing. Although laws have been passed regarding the number of boats allowed to be near these whales as well (whale and well! ... haha) as having to keep a certain distance away from them, i'm not sure how well regulated these laws are because some of the other boats looked like they were getting to close to them. Maybe even ours. Who knows. Maybe the best option would have been to climb onto a cliff watch them from there. That's what we saw a bunch of people doing.

The sydney opera house looks so much cooler from the waterside. And the bay had all these colorful sailboats. So surreal and so pretty!

Before i get to the fotos, here's an article about humans interacting with marine animals and what the consequences are from it. Fermin The Whale Shark.
