Not a whole lot going on right now but at the same time it's mentally too much to handle. Lots of friends having babies this year ... more diapers and wipes i gotta buy! Trying to get back into a fitness routine ... middle sistar decided to do the tour de houston bike ride this weekend. She completed 70 miles with absolutely zero amount of training. She had clip on pedals and wore regular tennis shoes. Pretty crazy. She could go far with some training! Pretty amazing feat. This is one of four songs that i have playing on repeat. Dancing outside under a string of lights. Can you see it?!? Just don't think about the lyrics.

You either like Lana Del Rey or you don't. Her singing style may take a little getting used to but i'm all for quirky voices. I watched Burlesque this weekend and although christina did an okay acting job (def better than britney in crossroads!), her voice just isn't for me. Cher's such a great actor! Who knew her acting could be so subtle when in reality she's larger than life! So yeah. I don't likey screaming singing. Big poppa and i made some additional progress with our flooring remodel with the laminate wood. Our goal for the weekend was to complete the rest of the first floor which included the kitchen, bathroom, small dining area, laundry room, pantry and small closet. We accomplished only 25% of it. And our bodies were so incredibly sore. As if we weren't busy enough, Alfie got a UTI and was peeing cloudy pink droplets everywhere. Poor guy. We took him to the vet and got him some antibiotics. He's a tough guy who deep down really is a scaredy cat. So our reno obstacles included the fact that we had to remove the toilet, which turned out to be a lot easier than putting it back. It took us three tries. Two sets of screws. Two sets of wax rings. And just really gross. Then there was moving out the fridge and stove. More grossness in the form of lots of rat poop. It was like no signal on the telly. Okay not that bad. But bless big poppa's heart for taking on that challenge while everyone pretended to be busy with other things. And right when we thought the hard parts were finally over with, planks from the left area didn't quite meet up with the planks from the right area. I was so mad. There's this huge gap. The only solution now is to put a transition bar across the entire gap which just messes up the flow. I am still mad every time i think about it. I just wanted to go all hulk and rip everything up and throw it everywhere whilst screaming like a banshee. Big poppa, stop saying it'll be okay. Argh. Oh yeah, big poppa kept throwing f-bombs my way for constantly screwing up the measuring. Measure once, cut twice. I know. It's supposed to be the other way around. Hah. Steel magnolias came on the telly so i watched that while working. I wouldn't recommend doing that. Towards the end when shelby was taken off life support, the measuring tape was all blurry from the tears in my eyes. Maybe that's why everything was so inaccurate.

I think Shake It Out would be my fave song from Florence + The Machine's most recent album. It's a fun song that makes me want to flip my hair around and around. Ask big poppa. He'll show you what i do. I think that after eight years together, he's been completely desensitized by my shenanigans. I can be doing elaine like dance moves all around the room and his eyes won't even budge from watching the real housewives. We spent our weekend being homebodies. Finally watched skyfall. I really like it. Daniel craig is such a great actor. Thot he was awesome in girl with a dragon tattoo. Also liked javier bardem. That blonde wig was so funny on him. And the directing was really good too. So overall it was worth the drive and rental fee at blockbuster.

I keep writing Marron 5. Haha. I do not like Maroon 5 wholeheartedly. I like some of their songs here and there such as this Daylight song that big poppa thought was Akon. I also like to boogy down to Moves Like Jagger. Awesome song. This weekend was full of doubleness. I had peking duck twice. Bambu che twice. Char siu twice. Love to eat. Best of all, I capped of my weekend playing cards with some friends. A whole HOUR of VC! Big poppa and i love playing cards and it's been a long time since we've played VC. Such relaxing fun. I'm neither good nor bad at the game. I never win and i never lose. Haha. I'm forever 2nd and 3rd place. And that's how i like it. Haha. It sucks growing up cos there's no one to sit and do nothing with. Like play VC.

So hypster is whack. It keeps goofing everything up. Their site just got revamped and i don't know how to navigate through it. The songs on my playlist sorta got scrambled and i don't know how to reorganize them so i'll just have to post my musik mundi in similar fashion.

Flu season is in full swing. This year was the first time i got my flu shot. Something in me told me to do it. So i did. And maybe it's a good thing because i ended up sorta getting sick. I can't tell if it was supposed to be the flu but the vaccine in me muffled most of it or if i just got some weird small cold. I've had this phlegmy cough for a whole WEEK. No other symptoms. Just cough cough cough. At least it was the painful dry cough. My body was trying to expel the nasty stuff within. It's finally mostly gone. I still have a litte cough cough here and a cough cough there. This seems to be pretty common because almost every other person that i know is also going through the same thing. My dad got the flu. Makes me sad whenever my parents aren't feeling well. I start thinking about their aging process and sometimes i tear up.

To end it on a first world problems note, i wanted this zara jacket and right when i decided to jump on it, my size runs out.

I've actually added a handful of songs on the playlist. So here it is again. The end of another year. I can't say if this year has been good or bad. I've got more than most people so i will be grateful and say that i am lucky to have what i have. Spent most of the holiday removing stanky and dirty carpet and replacing it with some fake wood laminate. Big poppa and i did most of it ourselves. I had to send some curse word filled texts to the little sistars because they completely ignored my request for them to help clear out the living room. Why do they make me the bad guy? Seriously. Anyway. The other day i found myself reflecting back on the person that i am today. I think most people in my inner circle would say that i'm an extrovert. But that's only true when i'm with people who i enjoy being around. The true definition of an extrovert is a person who is energized by being around other people and that is clearly not the case all the time. There have been many scenarios where i've been in a group setting and not a peep i made. I think some people prolly even thought i was SHY! And hands down that is not the least bit true. I've been around certain people who just suck the life out of me and there's not one thought that i can think of to share with them. I become this silent blob just sitting there with nothing to offer. Nothing. The definition of an introvert is a person who is energized by being alone. I'm totally a little bit of that too! I'm perfectly fine doing things on my own without having someone accompany me. I guess i'm just normal? Since big poppa and i have such busy weeks that when the weekends roll around, i just want to stay home and do nothing. Or maybe housework, crafting, or even some art project. I've gotten so bad at reaching out to people to set up social time. I could prolly work on being more proactive at that especially since i'm not really the phone chatting keep in touch type. I know that i've become a lot better at not completely shutting people out who i think have disappointed me. I don't want to be someone that play games or make calculated moves. So i don't do it. And i don't believe in tit for tat. An eye for eye makes the whole world blind. I just do what i need to do to keep the peace. How much i have grown! It's not hard to know who values your frendship so i hope that my bond with these great people become even stronger and hope that the ones with wrinkles somehow irons itself out. So was that all just comepletely random or what?!?

Big poppa and i have now been together for eight whole years! Our anniversary just sorta flashed by. We don't normally celebrate it anyway since it's christmas day. It was so hectic trying to finish up the floors, move all the furniture back and then prepare food for the family. All in a span of three days. Body was so soooore. Big poppa and i have the utmost respect for each other. I love that we're both such happy people even after all these years together. And i feel that our relationship has been as great as it has because we both didn't have to compromise much to make it work. I love him more than anything in this world! Even more than korean fried chicken!

The music is really catchy too. I will put this song on my hype playlist to get me through 610/galleria traffic. Ugh. It's obviously gotten worse as the holidays near. Why do people go to the mall? HULLO! SHOP ONLINE! I hate going shopping. Sifting through crap. Lines. Parking. Walking. Haha. I'm just lazy.

Big poppa and i attended a birthday event this weekend and i just loved it cos it was so nice! Good food! The owner of the house has really good taste and i love the renovations and design. I also came away with another philly cream cheese combo. That and tabasco pepper jelly. DELISH! I couldn't stop eating it. Well, i love cream cheese so it's hard to hate anything with it in it. I bought some that same weekend and ate it every night. I actually have stopped liking it as much. Overkill. But i know deep down that if i saw it i would still go for it.

Houston really doesn't have many things to do besides eating. I know that when my mom has friends visiting, all that she does is take them out to eat. Ugh. So boring! So when buda and wonder woman asked us if we wanted to go the turkish festival, i was like YES YES YES! Of course, we mostly just ate there too. Haha. And i had me some turkish coffee. I've had better. You know how festivals go. Over-priced. But it was something different to do. And i love listening to that up-beat mediterranean music. They had this DJ towards the end of the night where it was like dancey mediterranean pop. I like it. Haha. Food was okay. I had a falafel sandwich. Big poppa decided that night that he does not like mediterranean food. This was fun. But it was about to get better! I got this e-mail earlier in the day about some market square park party. So we left the Turkish festival and walked the six blocks to market square park. Walking around in downtown houston! Once we get to the park. It's completely awesome. There are a bunch of people sitting on the lawn listening to live music from a band that i didn't recognize but turned out to be really good! There was wine and beer and a free photobooth. Fun! Big poppa got a beer and i got a tiny glass of nasty red wine. We found a spot on the grass and enjoyed the music. The band's claim to fame is the song wild. This song is on a state farm commercial i believe. Isn't that just super cool of them to perform for free?!? To play for the love of music. Very rare these days. There were a bunch of little girls dancing up a storm on the stage. Oh yeah, it's cute and funny now. Haha.

I'm so loving this song! I play it at least three times a day. This is a shout at the top of your lungs in the car song. I'm thinking i need to tint my windows so people will stop staring. I keep imagining that one day while stuck in traffic on main st, i'll start singing with the windows down. And then one by one people from neighboring cars join me. And by mid-song, everyone's dancing and singing on the street and on top of cars. I'm not into musicals unless i'm starring in one. The music video for her song is pretty cool. She does this so you think you can dance contemporary number that shows how super strong she is. She's got a crazy man body.

I feel like time is in a rush. Before i know it i'm another year older and not much wiser. I've got a great man in my life yet i just don't feel the fire of getting married or having kids. I like kids but sometimes i wonder, do i REALLY like kids? I dunno. What i would like is a house but the thought of diving into such a huge financial commitment with the mortgage and furnishing it. Oy! It's a lot of chitty chitty bang bang mang! Big poppa and i had some free time on sunday so we drove around this one area looking at houses. Let's just say we were a bit out of our price range and everyone in that neighborhood will be voting for romney.

Mind so disorganized. Me and big poppa have poor communication. So we've double-booked ourselves on more than one occassion. It's awkward cancelling on people. I hate it. I hate being flaky. And i hate dog ate my homework excuses. But i'm that person now. So i hate. Myself. And i suck for ruining the surprise. I've been having to say that quite frequently these days.

Homeland. Have you seen it? You should see it. Big poppa and i took a weekend to ourselves to sit and watch the entire first season. We actually BOUGHT the dvd. No time to wait for any takers to volunteer to d/l for us. Claire danes so good. I can't decide whether she is pretty or not. She has great hair though.

Life has been such a whirlwind. Thanks to great friends for treating me to great food. Big poppa thanks you too. Going through so much transitions at work. I'm a lot busier with noticeably less time to blog. And my first olympic triathlon was so crappy. I should of never have woken up for that. More deets later.

Another year of missing the state fair. And i missed little my-linh's bday. She's so cute! And aren't the two besties so frackin adorable together?!? For their bdays this year, i got them some toms. I hope they liked them as much as i did!

Celebrated missus gilles big three-oh recently! It was such a nice and fun night with some of the classiest people i know. Every time i'm with them, it makes me want to dress nicer and be all sophisticated and stuff. I wore my new chanel small flap bag. That's right y'all! My first real designer bag purchased from paris. Dined at triniti. Good food. Just not enough of it! And swanked it up afterwards at St. Genevieve. Both were places i had never been to. Poor big poppa was so messed up the next morning. He asked if we went to tantan last night and i asked him whose birthday was it again?

I'm not finding the inspiration or motivation to post lately. I've got a queue of fotos that could stretch to the top of everest. Just sitting there. Waiting to get posted. I'm so behind on so many things. Work 1. Work 2. Triathlon. Totally am not where i should be and i feel even less prepared than a month ago.

My weekend was just miserable. I will write a long paragraph about it. And then i will delete it.

Art of conversation. I was watching RHONY and new chick carole who is too cool for school was talking about the art of conversation. It's something that i know i try to practice when spending time with friends. There are some people who i love being with because they're such great conversationists and then there are those who are terrible at it. For example, if my friend says she wrote a book, instead of answering with 'me too' or trying to one up her, i should encourage interest by answering with 'what is your book about?'. I know i have been guilty of the whole me too/one up poo poo but i'm working on not doing that. Because it's not always about me. I know a couple of people who tend to shut down what you're saying by sharing a one-up story. No matter what you do, they always had the crazier, better, worse this, more that than you did. And then you feel it's not even worth finishing your story. So now i'm constantly reminding myself that it's not about me when the moment is on them.

I just got back from a crazy trip to paris. I haven't decided yet if i liked it there or not. The buildings are AMAZE! But the amount of chinse tour groups that overwhelmed the city really took away from what could have been a great experience. I know I know. I'm chinese! I don't know what else to say. If I could say something to those chinese people it would be that i think they talk too loud (I know I know ... i talk loud too) and that they smell bad/weird. Confucious say you need to take a FULL head-to-toe shower EVERYDAY. And do not re-wear your clothes without washing them with detergent. Do not line dry either. Use a real dryer and add some bounce sheets. Xie xie.

- I came to work dressed like a slob forgetting that i had a yelp event to go to this evening and i basically have no time to go home and change. Great.

- I ate too much for lunch today. So. FULL. So. BAD.

- Pinot's palette for chacco's big three-oh. Very cool and fun. Downed three glasses of wine.

- Houston bouncers are such pain in the butts. I hate them.

- I have come to accept and give crazy laugh when i have CT. You know. Camel Toe. Haha.

- My phrase of the month has been 'i'm so out of it!'. Example: Leaving my tennies on top of the car

- Swam another 1500m straight! But i'm so slooow. People doing breastroke are going faster than me. Haha.

- Signed up for a running training program with in flight running called no boundaries. Hopefully this will help me become a better runner. So scared!

- Had to cancel on a chance to watch Ian Woodall speak about the Tao of Everest. Things are just too darn busy at the office. There's just no time for anything these days.

- Just realized that i could have gone to see george clooney speak at the wortham. Thought tickets were more than $1000 but turned out that was for the dinner. I'm seriously so out of it. UGH!

I think it's funny how the songs i listen to are all over the place tempo wise. I mix my dance songs with ballads with coffee house. And that's i how i listen to them in the car and at my desk. It completely goes against the need i have for wanting to organize and categorize most things. I kinda represents how i function on a daily basis. Just all over the place. I'm a chaotically organized person?

- Work is not fun right now. I feel like i'm back in school. I'm reading through an endless amount of literature right now. Will i be tested on this material? Quite possibly cos i need to know what i'm talking about at work. Ugh.

- Watched act of valor. So GOOD! I almost wanted to be a navy seal for a moment there. Roselyn Sanchez's rescue mission was pretty awesome. This is the kind of stuff they should be showing to future recruits. Can't say enough about being thankful that there are people out there with the courage and willingness to sacrifice their life for our freedom. We really have no right to complain about anything. It's so humbling. I will learn from this. Real navy seals were supposedly used for these roles. You can tell during non-combat dialogue. Not so good. But they're not real actors so it's okay. Jessica Alba is supposedly an 'actress' and she's so far from it. Good looks can get you far in this world.

- Massages: undies or no undies? I'm prolly 50/50. Depends on my mood. Depends on the place. I decided to go undie-less last week and of course i end up getting a MALE masseur. Lucky him! Haha.

- Antsymama picked me up for lunch and we FEASTED over at thien an. Ate. Too. Much. Gau said the banh xeo here was the best. I do not agree. My fave is a tie b/t thuan kieu or jacques homemade banh xeo. I've been craving thuan kieu really bad.

- Bethany Ever After: Must watch this week. She goes snowboarding in aspen and she looks pretty darn good!

- Criminal Minds: I'm so obsessed with this show and the re-runs on ion television: 'positively entertaining'. Get it? GET IT?!? ION ... Positively. Season finale this week and it could be emily prentiss' last episode!

- I have approx/more than $800 worth of stuff in my gap, inc shopping cart that is filled with gap, piperlime and athleta items. So bad. I just keep watching and waiting that things will go on sale before they sell out. And then i calculate my savings with coupon codes. So baaaaad. So hard to resist. Why can't i be big baller!

This may be an old song to you but it's a new song to me. I guess i hadn't realized this album has like at least half of it's song on the airwaves already. I'm a fan of Sia's so when i recognized her voice and learned it was her singing in this track, it made me like the song even more. And it doesn't hurt that it's a great dance track. Sia's getting mainstream now with her also being on the wild ones track with flo rida. I like watching dj's like david guetta and deadmau5 cos i like how they move to the music/beat. I'm not necessarily big on house though. My line is drawn at dance beats. This weekend has been relatively the same as the past few weekends. It's mostly just me and paul doing on own thing with one friend event thrown in. Saturday night, our twin friends were having a bday thing at red door in midtown. We had never been there before but had heard that it could be hard to get in sometimes. So big poppa and i made sure to look our best so that we wouldn't get rejected with it's a private party, are you on the list bullshizzz. I wore actual heels and not my party flip flops. Of course, i packed my party flip flops in my purse and changed into them after about an hour and a half. It just hurt so bad! That place got packed like impossibly fast! I kept getting bumped into. Reminds me of how the lines are at the train stations in china. CRAZY! I think the great thing was that everyone on the dance floor was DANCING DANCING. So there was a nice wave of bopping across the crowd. There was no booty humping and bboying. Ugh. Can't stand being a victim of accidental grindings and collateral damage of a 'dance off'. I didn't really start to get my dance on until j.lo's dance again song came on. It got me hype! I really like that song. I thought about using it as my musik mundi but since i listen to my own playlist a lot, her voice would prolly drive me bonkers after awhile. The best part of my night was an aquaintance gf of mine who was telling me (and everyone else) that i was her girl crush. What?!? Who me?!? Really?!? But i'm such a hot (doughy) mess! I just answered with 'it's the bun right?' while pointing at my signature hair style. Haha.

Whoever is in charge of selecting the music for these new slew of loew's commercials should be commended and given a raise! I watch a lot of telly but usually i'm only partially paying attention to whatever it is i'm watching since i'm prolly eating and reading at the same time or doing art and crafts. And i mos def don't usually watch the commercials. But every time the loew's commercials come on, i look up from what i'm doing and watch the commercial cos i really like the music and the commercial itself is also kinda entertaining to watch. I watched the documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi Friday evening. It was really good. It's crazy to think that a restaurant that serves only sushi could be a 3 star michelin restaurant. I guess it all depends on whether or not you have the palate. Some people come out and are inspired to eat the unique types of fish showcased in the film. Or you could be like me and feel a little nauseous because it was just way too much raw fish for me. I don't think i would want to get to that point. In the end, the doc is more than just about sushi. It's about the dedication and sacrifices involved to become a master sushi chef, and that perfection is not attainable. There's always something new you can learn to better your craft. I think my favorite part of the doc was when his youngest son went off to open his own sushi restaurant, he told his son that he better succeed because he has no home to return to. It's tough love but his reasoning is that parents our day in age tend to baby our kids and tell them they can always come home if they don't succeed, thus breeding failure. Failure is not an option. You must do whatever it takes to succeed. There is no gray area with Jiro. He is very matter-of-fact with every though he has. This man has dedicated his entire life to his craft. For a better review of the movie you can google it or read it here. What else did i do this weekend? I slept for nearly eleven hours. Jealous? And i got the most painful reflexology massage at the place next to teahouse on bellaire called "PAIN RELIEF CENTER". OMG it hurt so bad. I'm never going there again. I thot it was just me but when i mouthed the words 'it hurts' to big poppa, he drew a line from his eye down his cheek with his finger. As in he had TEARS it was so painful! Haha. I just burst out laughing. So yeah. Don't go there. Man, i use splenda in my coffee every morning and today i decided to try that pure via stuff. GROSS! It made my coffee taste awful. Co-worker friend agreed. And i used up all my lactaid milk so i'm stuck with it.

To say things have been way too busy would be an understatement. I'm gonna try to recap these last two weeks or so. I thot i was over and done with big poppa's accounting stuff for his biz. Not true. CPA tells me that i need to redo over half of my entries because i entered them incorrectly. ARGHA! A positive spin on it would be to say that at least it was just our first year. Five months to be exact. Back tracking I go. I have until september to finish. Big poppa doesn't make it any easier for me. Last sat was big poppa's sat off and we decided to bike along brays bayou to our friend geetar's dry cleaners. On the ride back, I almost passed out from the final ascent to street level. So hungry. So shaky. Total mileage was approx 18 miles. So sunny. So hot. No shade. Slight tan! Yay! And i wore my skanky tight super short shorts so that i didn't have tan lines mid-thigh. Big poppa = farmer's tan. Does not look good. Helped out at SEAS. All the teachers were on retreat. The kids ate us alive. Asked the kids sat night what the next day was. Kids answer with APRIL FOOL'S DAY! Darn. They're right. But it's also PALM SUNDAY. And mass was filled wiggling and fidgety kids. Palm leaves = major distraction. Two sat night's in a row turned into crawfish followed by beignets and coffee. Chez beignet last sat and then crescent city beignet this past sat. I actually don't even really like beignets all that much but i can never say no to hanging with friends. Big poppa is a beast. We ate dinner with his family and then he ate crawfish afterwards too. We ended the night at the tasting room. A glass of red wine is so good and really makes me relax. Voodoo was showing me snowboarding vidz and all of us were like, okay, next season for SURE! Park City or Mammoth, you're in my books. On sunday, big poppa and i had an old married couple day. Laundry and grocery shopping. I cooked while big poppa did handyman stuff around the house. We did not work out at ALL this weekend. Actually, the last time we worked out was wednesday. WHY? Because on wednesday, we did our own version of bootcamp at herman park. Run the hill twice. 25 sit-ups. Run the hill twice. 25 push-ups. Repeat. Man. My arms were sore for DAYS. Could barely pull the seat belt. That itchy spot on my back? Forget it. I think i had it the worst mainly cos i'm that out of shape and i can't even remember the last time i did a push-up. Prolly with jacques at his own personal sunday morning bootcamp. And the crazy thing is we didn't even finish all of our sets cos the mosquitos came out and it just really became unbearable. This song that i have posted is from an icelandic group. I think? And this song in particular reminds me of that viral youtube video of the father daughter duo singing 'home'. My 'training' so far isn't looking very good.

I'm texting back and forth with a friend and just made myself laugh out loud. I'm that person who cracks themselves up and i'm okay with that! This song is has really pretty vocals. It's such a dreamy song and even though i've listened to it many times, i can tell you absolutely nothing about the meaning. I can't believe it's already getting so hot. I'm really looking forward to getting my orange glow back. Not! But i really want some color on my doughy body. Slowly getting back into a regimen. Went swimming to see where i'm at. I can do 300 meters but i'm breathing crazily hard when i'm done. This saturday is big poppa's day off so we're planning on going for a long bike ride. Can't wait! Hoping i can get some friends to join. I love long rides. I've already got some people recruited for my summer active group. We've all got weird schedules so i'm not sure how it's gonna work. But food rewards will be what drives me. Haha. Hopefully we can get started in April cos lord knows i need all the time i can get to prepare. Ugh. Still working up the guts to sign up.

Last week big poppa beat me in words with friends. Seriously?!? I couldn't believe it. My vocabulary bank is mos def bigger than his. The reason why he won is cos he's a word guesser. The people behind the game needs to change it so that points get deducted when you incorrectly make up words. It really left me in a bitter mood. So of course i wanted to play again. I won the next game. But it's just not the same. Cos wut if he LET me win? Ugh. Things have been a little rough the last couple of weeks so i was grateful to have a weekend filled with eating out with a few people i hadn't seen in a while. As for musik, well, i haven't really been listening to anything new. No one has been sending me anything. So i had a quick blip of personal time sunday night and previewed ingrid's new album. There's a lot of tracks that i like but i haven't narrowed it down yet. Hence the long list of songs on the playlist right now. And wut makes her even more awesome is that she did an awesome cover of gotye's someone that you used to know. She's so cute and quirky. And the girl just got married to greg laswell in january! He is the guy behind one of my fave songs.
