For the last couple of months, i had convinced big poppa and myself that this route that i had picked that went around rice and through hermann park was more than six miles. When we finally timed ourselves, we quickly realized that it wasn't more than six miles but rather 4.75 miles. Haha. I'm very aware of how slow i run so i immediately doubted my time. Using Map My Run, i mapped a correct 6 mile loop for us to run. Running through hermann park is actually really nice. I definitely prefer it over memorial. And you're not overlapping anywhere and that's really important to me. After work one day, i decided to go for a walk/jog by myself. I knew there was this new public sculpture installation by Ai Weiwei at McGovern Lake so i decided to take a small detour to go check it out. I have this number belt thing with a pouch that i was able to put my small point-and-shoot in so i can bring it along. The installation is called Circle of Friends/Zodiac Heads. You only have until June 3rd to go see it. After that, it'll be moved to another city. I'm not sure how many cities it will be featured in total but i think that we are so lucky to have Houston be on their list. Ai Weiwei was part of the team who designed the bird's nest stadium in beijing for the olympics. I have such admiration for him and his fearlessness in speaking out against China's policy on free speech and human rights. These sculptures stand at ten feet high and weigh about 1000 pounds each. It's really pretty how they have them facing the lake. After looking at them and taking some pics, i started my jog back to the car which was prolly another two miles or so. I ended taking this path behind the playground area. As i jogged, i pass strange lady number one who yells at me if i knew the lord and savior jesus christ. I yell back with a hearty 'YES!' and keep running a little faster. Then as i approach the playground, two mi dang families are yelling at each other. Like screaming blood murder at each other. A lot of cursing and craziness. Something's about to go down! I slow to a walk to watch. Where's freaking security?!? A lot of arm flappin' and mouths yappin'. I see a sane couple ahead. We look at each other, shake our heads, and i continue on. As i get back into a miserably slow jog, i pass by strange creepy man number one, then two, then three. They all make annoying and unnecessary comments. I run a little bit faster each time i pass one of these creepy fellas. Even though i prolly clocked in a PR for finishing, i don't think i'll take that detour anymore. So much stress!
