Restaurant: Canyon Cafe

5000 Westheimer Rd # 250
Houston, TX 77056

I'm having anti-verbose over-dose. Yeah right.

My first time coming to Canyon.
It was quiet even for lunch.
The free chips were super awesome.
Perfectly seasoned and with a crunch.

The bf had the tilapia.
He thot it was worth every buck.
I had the chicken burger.
Eew, it was not good. Yuck!

But the fries were so tasty.
So skinny. So crispy. So YUMS.
I would come back just for that.
Ok folks, that's it. I'm done.

Not sure what inspired the poem. It definitely wasn't the food. Maybe I'm just deep like that. But check out the menu below. They had something called chihuahua queso dip made from chihuahua cheese. Here's my understanding. Cheese is made from milk. So did they use chihuahua milk? How long does it take to milk a chihuahua?!? Here's an image that comes to mind. Remember in Meet the Parents where Ben Stiller's character is talking about how he would milk his cat. And he proceeded to make milking motions with his thumb and fore-finger. That's what comes to mind when I think about someone milking a chihuahua. HAHA! And you know what would be even funnier?!? If a CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO did not exist.

Persona Grata: EmMa

Maybe not as much EmMa. More like her house. I'm a bad friend. Friend has moved and bought herself a home all by her lonesome for almost two years now and I barely just made the trip out to check out the crib.

Most people always think I'm weird when I pull out my camera and begin to randomly shoot things. But after a few minutes, they join in and start offering things for me to use as subjects. So fun! Take for instance this Michelle Kwan snow globe that Miss EmMa is showing off. She's really into ice skating and even offers lessons! I'm supposed to make my way out to the rink ones of these days.

I didn't notice it at the time, but that's a blurry pic of me and her to the right of the snow globe. I'm not sure what year that was but it was at our first Vienna Teng concert.

Two books that she suggested for me. I still haven't gotten to them yet! I have this jenga stack of travel books that I'm making my way through at the moment. It's very exciting stuff. I've got highlights and sticky notes everywhere.

Oh how I do miss the Sanrio characters. I can't decide which one was my favorite. It was either Keroppi, Pochacco or Pekkle. Those were the frackin' days my people!

Photobucket

Thanks for recommending this pad thai stuff to me! I made it last night with some chicken and the bf liked it very much.

These little dim sum holders are so CUTE! She got them as wedding favors. It is such a great idea. A bit of an expensive idea but so cute nonetheless. I'm really considering incorporating this into my future wedding.

And last but not least, proof that my friend is a coupon hoard. She is a coupon maniac! She has this entertainment coupon book and she uses it to the end. All the places that she dines at must have an accompanying coupon. It's totally fine by me. Who wants to pay full price?!?

Musik Mundi: Frou Frou

Some people know Frou Frou. And some people don't. But everyone should! Frou Frou is a duo comprised of Imogen Heap and Guy Sigsworth. Tangent. I love the name Guy. It just sounds so cool and so European. I'm thinking that name only fly's in Europe. If I were to name my kid Guy, he would probably get made fun of. Both these peeps are super talented musicians and song-writers. They both have written songs for some major artists. Sigsworth has worked with Madonna and Alanis Morisette whilst Heap has worked with Britney Spears and Kate Havnevik. Their style is electronic trip-hoppish. Their Details album was the only album that Frou Frou made before disbanding into their solo careers. I remember my under-grad buddy made me this mix CD and there were two songs on there by Frou Frou. I wasn't keen on the music at first but it grew on me pretty fast. And now, even after all these years, I still enjoy jamming to this incredible album. I haven't bothered to check out Imogen's solo stuff. Maybe sometime down the road.

Thingits: Koralie

The other day, I got upset at the bf. So what else is new with the feminine species. But anyhoo. How does he make it up to me? Well, the way to my heart is through dunny's. Upon entering my room to esc, tab and ctrl my night away, I saw those three words that I love oh so much. Me! I'm French.

Photobucket

One was a repeat, one was a new one but an ugly one and one was the one that I have been one-ting since the beginning of my dunny craze. It's the one designed by Koralie! I don't suggest going to her website. Confusing! So basically I feel like I can now stop wasting money on these things since she was the one I was waiting for. Well, maybe just a hiatus until the next series.

Daily Shots: Moni-Mon's Gone

We had this thing at work for a near and dear c-worker who is on her way out for bigger and better things.

The Croatian made cupcakes. From scratch! Even the lettering on the cupcakes were made from scratch. The cupcake holders are from recycled paper. And guess what? She recycled the paper herself! Psych. The last part(s) I made up. Or did I?

This was my going away present for her.

Notice anything off about skeletor? He's holding his own leg!

Riddle me this. What do you get when you put this:

Answer: You get a cubicle full of balloons! I was hoping that it would fill to the top but I under-estimated the amount of balloons that I would need. For that, I blame the bf once again.

Photobucket

But if you're not careful, this could happen: balloon boobies.

Photobucket

And my fave: balloon booty.

I just noticed that I didn't include any fotos of Moni-Mon. Whoops! But that's the theme. She's gone.

Edit:

Here's Moni-Mon in her kingdom of balloons. Moni-Mon is now gone baby gone. Great movie by the way!

Daily Shots: Strawberries & Mangoes

Juice Box. Strawberries and Mangoes. MMMmmmm. Yums. TRY IT NOW! Miss Antsylily, did you like it?

My new shower curtain. I love color. My old one was falling apart and it took a good year for me to finally part with it. It was already falling apart last year but the bf stapled it back together at the top where the rings are. Ghetto I know. I love the new one though. Reminds me of the mosaic tiles in downtown across the street from Jones Hall.

This was the first time we were up close and personal with the Smart car.

Tino and his new blue toy. I don't care what any expert says. Dogs are not colorblind cos I swear his fave color is blue. Hah!
