Musik Mundi: Bon Jovi

While karaoke-ing this weekend, I put on Bon Jovi's, Livin' On A Prayer. Grabbing the mic, I yell out to everyone that this was a group song and that I wanted everyone to join in. This is one of my all time favo songs. I know. I've got a lot of those. It was awesome having our room thunder with our voices as we shout out 'OOHHHHHHH, we're half-way there. OOOHHHH, OHHHHH! Livin' on a prayer! Take my hand, we'll make it I swear. OOOHHHH, OHHHHH! Livin' on a prayer!' ... Dood. I'm totally walking down the aisle to this song.

Trippin': New York City - Little Italy

Little Italy is adjacent to Chinatown and you'll know you have arrived when you see the green, white and red structures that arches over the streets. Some of the streets are closed off allowing pedestrians to amble aimlessly through the throng of people looking for cafes, shops and pizza. There was a place that we were supposed to go get some cannoli's from but the constant eating didn't allow for it. So I will mos def try it when I go back. Ciao!

I love me some Kidrobot! Specifically my dunny's. I love it when I'm with people are cool with going wherever. It makes it much easier for me to go, ok, let's go here! Haha. So we found the Kidrobot store, located in SoHo. There were some jumbo figures that we had fun taking fotos with. Including, a smoking labbit seat that voodoo could not stop talking about even when we got back to Houston. Price tag? A smoking $1200. Eek! A few of us purchased some goodies. We were supposed to have an unwrapping party that never came to. I'm impressed that the folks who work at the store know the names of the artists who designed all of the figurines.

Here's a song from Imogen Heap's new album. It's the first single and the one I like the best from the bunch. But seriously. They need to stop playing that Jason DeRulo song Whatcha Say continuously on the radio. I love Hide and Seek and they're killing it for me.

Trippin': New York City - Hello Kitty

While zooming by in a cab down Park Ave, I caught a glimpse of a big Hello Kitty sculpture and made a mental note of the location. We had some time to kill before an early dinner reservation the next day so I guided my group towards Hello Kitty. I'm not even a fan of Hello Kitty but I'm always up for a foto op. So we spent many minutes taking pics.

Event: State Fair of Texas

I finally went to the State Fair! Man. I think I've mentioned before that after going to visit big poppa in Dallas for about three years, we never went to the State Fair. To be fair, I really didn't visit him as much as he came into town to visit me. Yeah. I'm a pretty bad gf. OMGaudy we tried so much disgusting fried food that I all the organs in my body felt like it was coated with a layer of grease. We tried fried PB&J (good) and fried BUTTER. Haha. It sounded pretty gross but it doesn't taste as gross as it sounds. It was pretty much like a very buttery biscuit. The fried PB&J was good cos it had that nice crunch to it. We all also had corn. Everyone had a corn to themselves, haha. I also tried this ring of potatoes thing that was dripping with grease. Yums. But not really. It was really soft in texture and I wished it had more of a crunch to it. I don't know what I did with it. I think I threw most of it away cos nobody else could take it on. I think my fave item was mos def the corn dog. I was really surprised cos I generally do not like corn dogs. Hate 'em. But the corn dogs here are deep fried and so the corn dog is nice and CRUNCHY. Good lordy it was darn good! If I were hungry enough, I would have gotten my own. But Wonder Woman was gracious enough to let me take a few bite of hers. Such a nice girl! Haha. I remember Queenie and Questina disappeared for a bit and when they came back, they both had their own corn dogs. So that's where they went! Haha. Man. One of those corn dogs sounds kinda nice right about now. Since I've gotten older, I become more wary about riding any type of roller coaster ride. Especially the rickety ones at fairs. But for some reason, I was like ok. Let's just do it. So we chose to ride the one that looks like a spider and it spins and flips you around. Awesomeness! And right when we decide to do it, it starts raining. But we ride it anyways. So the one time I decide to ride these things, I do it when it's raining. Great. Haha! It was pretty darn fun! The best part of the whole day? We saw OPRAH! We weren't eve aware that she would be filming there that day. My group and I were simply standing around when this caravan of cars slowly drove by. Then I heard people start to scream and wave. And then as her car came by, I joined in on all the hollering. She had her window down and was waving to everyone. That's crazy. I wonder how it feels to have people react to you in that way. Must be nice and annoying at the same time.

Trippin': New York City - FAO Schwarz

I can NOT believe that I went to the NYC FAO Schwarz store and it did not even occur to me to go look for the infamous piano on the floor. What was I (not) thinking?!? I was that out of it. I think the store was also about to close for the evening. I dunno. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't have too much time to roam around cos I can imagine the unnecessary toys I would have bought that Tino prolly would have loved to sink his teeth into. Again though, HOW did I miss the frackin' piano?!?

Trippin': New York City - Chinatown

You can't go to NYC and not go to Chinatown. No matter what race you are. I, for that matter, can't go to a new city and not go to that city's Chinatown. Must have some type of Asian food at least every two days. The main street in Chinatown is Canal St. All up and down this area, there are people selling fruits, snacks and lots and lots of I heart NY t-shirts. This is also the place to go for those junky souvenirs that I'm famous for buying. We stopped in this area on two different occasions during our little trip.
