Placenter: Elegant Nails Spa

17330 Spring Cypress Rd
Cypress, TX 77429

When my fancy cousin came to visit, she took one look at my horrific nails and said that we needed to make a nail appt asap. I don't keep up with being all lady-like and groomed. My nails, both fingers and toes, get long and then cos they're so brittle and weak, they normally start chipping and splitting. So if you look at my nails, they're all jagged and uneven and just overall pretty gross. Plus, I'll paint my nails on occasion and I'm so lazy that I'll just let the polish chip off on it's own over time instead of using nail polish remover. I'm such a lazy butt! I even remember my physical science teacher in high school giving me a dollar so that I could go buy some acetone. I never did. So my cousin, who indulges in a mani-pedi twice a month treated me to my first ever spa pedicure. And manicure too, but I've had those before. It was frackin' nice! I love how they massaged my legs. Oh yeah, I don't shave my legs on a regular basis either but I shaved my legs just for this. Haha. It was wonderful. They wrapped my legs in hot towels and then right afterwards, they rubbed this minty scrub stuff all over and my legs never felt so refreshing. A girl could really get used to this! We stopped by Elegant Nails Spa on a whim, after a shopping trip at the outlet mall up north. The place just happened to be the new nail shop opened up by my other younger cousins ex-boyfriend's parents. Since my aunt was with us and knew the owner, she gave us the special treatment but not really. I'm not sure what I meant by that. So anyways. It was great. If I had money growing outta my pits, I would do this frackin' every week. But since I don't, I will have to continue saving my money for traveling purposes only. Priorities peoples!

My nails before the mani-pedi. You kinda have to look closely. You'll notice that my nails are really long. I don't cut them as much as I should. But enjoy my grandma hands and hobbit feet!

The after. Cousin allowed me to splurge on a little big toe flower design. You know, these pedicures last a really long time! Mine lasted for more than a month. I guess I have lazy non-laborious toes.

Restaurant: Hungry's Cafe & Bistro

2356 Rice Blvd
Houston, TX 77005

I think the main reason why I go to Hungry's is for their hummus and pita bread. I don't normally like hummus and the hummus here is the only one that I will eat. And crave! I think it has something to do with the fact that they use white beans instead of chick peas. It gives it a more smooth and creamy texture. Also, it's not as tart and lemony per the hummus norm. And man, that pita bread! Even that tastes a lot better than other pita breads that I've had. There's just something about it. The restaurant itself is cute and quaint. It's not super trendy and over the top like most places sprouting up around town. I've had good servers as well as bad servers but never any rude or mean servers. The bad servers are the ones who try really hard to be good servers but they just never seem to remember anything. You know. Those types. But they're always so nice that you just can't get upset over the little things. A lot of items on the menu will have a heart next to it, which means that it's healthy! So you end up feeling better about what you eat. I always end up ordering things sans heart. Cos I'm cold like that. Parking pretty much socks. The lot is small and so you're almost forced into valeting your car. If you want though, there's usually some open spots at the church parking lot across the street. The one weird thing is when go there for lunch, you have the option of either ordering at the counter or sit down and do the whole server thing. Why not just have one or the other? Cos the folks who order at the counter will sit at table and bother the servers anyway cos they're gonna need this and that. Well, whatever works for them.

They usually have these owls perched outside so that the squirrels won't be pesky to the people dining al fresco. But, I think the squirrels are on to the authenticity of these owls cos it ain't working!

Yummy hummus and pita!

The tomato basil soup isn't so good. Slightly on the watery side. Needs to be more viscous.

Trippin': Austin - Hey Cupcake!

1600 Block of S. Congress
Austin, TX 78704

There's always all this stuff I want to go see and do whenever I go to Austin but there's never enough time to squeeze everything in. Boo! But luckily, thanks to all the accommodating doods I was with, they tried their best to help scratch off as many things on list as possible. The first thing was to hit up Hey Cupcake!. What was the appeal? Well, for one, they sell their cupcakes from this super shiny metal polished airstreamed trailer with a giganto cupcake spinning up top. For two, I like cupcakes. For three, a lot of people keep talking about it. So I knew I just had to try it out! OMGawd the cupcakes were so GUT! I ordered like eight cupcakes but only had one. Portion peoples! The only one that I tried was the Vanilla Dream: vanilla bottom, vanilla top. I'm craving one right now as we speak. The icing is incredibly light and fluffy. It's a bit sweet but HEY, it's a CUPCAKE! Get it? You know, I love chocolate but for some reason, I can't bring myself to eat chocolate cupcakes when there are other choices. I'd eat it if there was nothing but chocolate cupcakes. Most of us went for the vanilla ones, the chocolate ones pretty much went to waste. My friend had the 24 Carrot and said it was good. Supposedly the most poplulare ones are the red velvet and the Michael Jackson (chocolate bottom with cream cheese frosting) but of course, they had already ran out for the day. Oh well, I prolly wouldn't have tried either one since I'm not big on cream cheese frosting. Cream cheese on bagel? Yes please! But on cake or cupcake? No thanks!

Girls have a sixth sense. Extra intuition. I got this shot of this lady pose-eating a cupcake. Her eyes are closed.

Photobucket

So how? HOW? HOW did she know that I was also taking a picture of her?!? We both laughed after she caught me catching her pose-eating.

Photobucket

So I tried to copy her. Cos she looked rather cute doing it. I however did not fare as well. I have like some sort of chipmunk ferret face morphology. So yeah, I did not look as cute. Hah!
