On the evening of Cinco de Mayo, big poppa and I packed all of our stuff into the 'brid and set off for San Antonio. We would be there for a few days for some business and some pleasure. I normally skip around when posting my travel fotos but I'll try to keep it in order this time. I booked a room at the Grand Hyatt in downtown San Antonio. It was pricey but it was also right next door to the convention center. We would be going there every single day and to be able to just walk back forth with ease was sort of worth the money. Parking was like twenty something dollars a day. Not cool at all. Luckily, the hotel had been going through some sort of fire testing for the entire duration of our stay. From 8am to 5pm, the air vent in our room would make this really loud whirring sound, almost like the sound that the wings of an airplane makes as it prepares for landing ... and it was loud and it would go on and off almost every five to ten minutes. It was soooooo annoying. I couldn't take any naps cos of this. I guess we weren't so lucky in that sense. But of course, I brought that up when it was time to check out and they aptly comped the parking charges. All five days of it. Sah-weet! My fave thing about our room is that the outlets were all easily accessible. Usually, you have to go searching behind the desks and night stands. I hate to think of myself as some type of frou frou, materialistic kinda gal but when it comes to hotel rooms, I simply can not do cheap motels/hotels. It's so disgusting to me. I really don't know if I'm cut out for backpacking across Europe or South America. Haha.

Event: EmMa's Housewarming
My college friend had a housewarming party a couple of weeks ago. Along with a Target giftcard, I brought along some of that to die for white queso from Escalante's. Truly the best in my mind. It really is crazy how all my friends are growing up! I don't really have anything of that sort planned in my near future. I just want to travel and see the world. Antsymama was there with her kids and like the creepy person that I am, I took loads of fotos of them. On the ride home, they knocked out. They looked so peaceful with their mouths hanging open. Reminds me of the way I sleep. Haha.
The So bros are really attached to big poppa. They love him! Most kids really like him. I think the only baby so far who cries in fear of him is My-Linh.

Musik Mundi: Kate Miller-Heidke
Kate Miller-Heidke opened up from Ben Folds when he recently rolled into town. I didn't get to go but Cavitron did and was thoughtful enough to let me know that I might like her. Although most of her songs may be a bit too eccentric even for me, I did find one song that I kinda liked. It's one of those songs that you want to just put on when you're doing arts and crafts or in the kitchen. Like Lenka, Kate is also an Aussie. I wonder if they're like best buds?

Restaurant: Kraftsmen Baking
4100 Montrose Blvd
Houston, TX 77006
Every Sunday, big poppa and I have been trying to make it a habit to head out and do a round over at the Memorial park trails. As stated in the previous post, runner I am not. So everyone usually does the five minute pity walk with me and then sooner or later, they all take off while I struggle to finish. Haha. It's all good. I don't care. I hate being the person who holds people back from anything and everything. I have accepted coming in last every single time with grace. And a super red face. My fave part is when we're all done, we stand together, kicking at the ground, throwing out ideas about where we should go eat. Because that's what it's all about. Making sure that you do what you can to make that work-out obsolete, almost like it never even happened. On this particular day, I suggested Kraftsmen Baking since I had been wanting to go there for brunch with big poppa for a while now. Kraftsmen Baking is a high quality artisan bread company that supplies many Houston restaurants their product. If you know me, you'll know that I simply LIVE for carbs, especially in the form of bread. The restaurant itself is small and quaint. The kitchen seems tiny. It took a long time for some of our food to come out. I can't say that my croissant sandwich was the best I've ever had. It was average. But I would mos def go back and try their other stuff. It started raining whales and elephants as we were leaving. The nutrition Gods must have been very upset with us.
