When it came to the favorite meal of the trip, the answer was a unanimous one. FLIP BURGER BOUTIQUE. Completely YUMS! And to think, we almost didn't come here. But when there's a place that I really want to try, I keep pushing until it's been tried. The place specializes in fancy burgers. Fine dining between two buns is what they call it. For the price that you would pay at other places for a burger, fries and drink, here you'll only get a burger the size of a slider. It doesn't matter though cos it's so darn good! The meat is quality and very well seasoned. The sides are off the hook and their shakes are flash frozen in liquid nitrogen. Chef Richard Blais is the guy behind this restaurant. He was a contestant on Top Chef: Chicago and was also on Iron Chef America. Even though the burgers are small, it's actually perfect cos the bun and the patty is somewhat thick and I was left feeling pretty good after wolfing down my entire turkey burger and vodka battered onion rings. Another key item is the hand cut french fries. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly crisp.

There's an outside area where you can dine al fresco.

My cousin had the krispy kreme shake (oh man that was GOOD) and sistar had the nutella and burnt marshmallow.

Chicken burger ($8): fried chicken patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, spicy serrano smoked mayo. This was just okay.

The regular flip burger ($6.50) with fries ($3.00): pickled onion, shredded lettuce, marinated tomato, house-made pickles, FLIP sauce. The first one is with no veggies and the second one is all the way.

Chorizo burger ($7.50) with onion rings ($3.50): spicy pork sausage, romesco ketchup, hash browns, fried egg, manchego cheese, smoked mayo. The fried egg was nice and raw and runny. Not American places will do that.

Smoked Salmon burger ($9.00): herb cream cheese, arugula, red onion, cucumber, everything spice.

Turkey burger ($6.50) and asparagus tempura ($4.00): avocado, tomato, alfalfa sprout, pomegranate ketchup. My cousin, big poppa and I all had the turkey burger. Cousin had hers with the asparagus, big poppa ordered fries and I always order onion rings if it's avail. I'm a piggy. Hah!

I liked how they wall-papered the bathroom walls with the graphics design. I spent some time in there taking pictures not knowing there was this lady outside waiting. She prolly thot I was taking a poo. I wasn't I promise! But my sister did. Haha.

Birthday: Gilles

I like to tell people that I'm now a homebody and that I loathe going out and clubbing. For the most part, I'm telling the truth. Mostly. But get me with the right people and the right atmosphere and the old party girl in me is all over the place! A few of us gathered over at Howl At The Moon to celebrate Gilles birthday a couple of weekends ago. I normally don't like posting clubbing/going out fotos but I'll make an exception since it was a birthday. I can't really say if I liked the venue or not. Our little group stuck mostly around the bar and force fed Gilles as much drinks as we could. An hour went by before I realized that I hadn't even heard a single piano key and this was supposed to be a dueling piano bar. I think it was due to the fact that I was too busy talking, screaming actually, obnoxiously loud and guffawing like a donkey to even bother hearing the main event. I had a LOT of fun! But it was only cos I was with fun undrama people. The place itself is kind of a rip off. You pay big bucks to get the piano people to play a song and when they do, they play like thirty seconds of it. Somebody is making lots of money and it's not me! I had about three drinks which was enough to get me going and doing high kicks everywhere. Gilles however had three drinks times three and by the end of the night, she was super affectionate and friendly Gilles. I think she had a good time. She had to 'recover' the next day though. Oops.

Musik Mundi: Regina Spektor

Regina Spektor is a Jewish singer-song writer and pianist who makes music that I like but music that big poppa hates cos I guess it's very bubble gum kid-like stuff. Almost like the real me! But I've got a much darker soul so it's weird that I listen to the stuff that I do. And then it's funny cos sweet ole Mascara likes heavy metal! I don't really listen to her music all the time. Just in moderation. I remember liking her song Fidelity when it was used in a JC Penny commercial. The music pickings have come a long way for television. It now plays such a strong role in drawing viewers into what is normally annoying commercials. I listened to some tracks off her new album but I find her old stuff more catchy.

Trippin': McAllen - BBQ

McAllen is probably just as hot as Houston is. But one thing they have that we don't is a nice breeze. We decided to prepare stuff to have a nice little BBQ by the pool our first evening there. Transam marinated some chicken meat to make kebobs and I marinated some chicken wings that everyone seemed to like. Whew! The weather was nice and I think everyone just had a good time sitting and enjoying each other's company. I know I pretty much stuffed myself. Besides the chicken, we also had shrimp and corn-on-the-cob. So much food!

After awhile, big poppa and I went out to the pits to get the charcoal lighted and going. Hey, we're good for something!

Cos I've also given up pork for a bit, Mascara and Flower Child put together some kebobs with only chicken on them. I'm so much trouble sometimes. So I'm always super greatful to those understanding of my pickiness.
