Restaurant: Soma Sushi

With nothing at home to eat for dinner and no reservations on hand, big poppa and i decided to test our luck and head over to soma sushi to see if we could get a table for two. Luck was on our side! It wasn't super packed but we managed to score a table in the bar area. Good enough for us. Their soma ramen is one of the best in houston. I'm not sure if this is the traditional type of ramen you would expect when you think of ramen but it is still pretty darn good. The broth is good and murky and the noodles are awesome! They're not as dense as the noodles at ippudo ramen but it's still delicious in it's own way. I also like the soma roll as well as the spice yuzu tuna roll. On this occassion we also ordered the tuna and truffle roll which i prolly won't order again since it was just okay. They have this tuna nigiri on their exotic menu that comes with scallions and a truffled shoyu which is also a must order for me. So it turned out to be nice little dinner for us. There were two girls at the table next to us and i think they were having an argument. They were quiet so it wasn't too obvious but i still at times wondered if we should move one table over so they could have a little more privacy. I can't tell if they were lezzies or just two girls who happened to be friends. Since it was vday, all the ladies received a rose. Smelled nice! I love flowers. But i don't like big poppa buying them for me because i think it's such a waste of money. So if he were able to score me some free flowers for me i'd welcome them with open arms. Or better yet, maybe he could plant me a nice garden of magical flowers that don't need tending to.

Some other gifts i received that i didn't expect to: ray-ban catty clubmasters and a macaron making kit.

Holiday: Valentine's Day 2013

Happy Valentine's Day y'all!

I always tell people that big poppa and i are not really vday kinda folks. At least it's not so important to me. But big poppa is the sweet guy that i sometimes don't think i deserve. Geez. I just made myself tear up. Not sure wuts in the water but my tear ducts are getting a workout this month. So back to my sweet guy. Even after telling him that i don't care for anything, he still wanted to do something nice for me. I guess you could say that i have a plethora of single male friends and i often give them advice and tips about the female kind. One tip that i've been recently preaching about it this new macaron boutique that just opened up in river oaks. Macaron by Patisse. If most girls are like me, then we are wanting to come here. So i told them to go there to meet girls. Haha! Or at least bring their date. The shop is so incredibly cute and the decor and design is basically everything i love. Gray and white chevron floors. Chandelier. Loves it. I actually want that exact gray and white chevron pattern on the vertical planes of all the steps on my staircases. I've been on HGTV overload ever since we put in our glamorous laminate floors. Big poppa had every intention on taking me to macaron by patisse for vday but realized that he wouldn't be able to surprise me since we would be in separate cars. So we went together as a non-surprise treat the night before. We got a dozen macarons. All were delicious. The owners were really nice and not pretentious at all. The guy even offered to take our foto so that's always a plus.

Since we're on the subject on vday, i thought i'd share some sweet and romantic stuff from the web. These made me tear up. I'm a sensitive person in general so i tend to cry very easily but it's just been a bit much lately. I had a meltdown last week where i was feeling badly about myself. As i was confiding to big poppa i just started crying. And then seeing a man fighting back tears as his wife was about to go into surgery. Tears. This post. Tears. Then this article in the photo below. Tears. It's easy to balk at these stories and question it's authenticity. But you know what? I choose to BELIEVE!

Trippin': Sydney - Arisun Sun's Chicken

I like korean fried chicken, yes? I get all bug eyed whenever i see anything that remotely resembles korean fried chicken. We didn't plan on eating at Arisun Sun's Chicken. We walked around looking for a place to eat and decided to come into this place. Prolly cos i just had to know if the kfc was any food here. It wasn't anything to write home about. Hehe. Whilst i'm writing about it in my blog. The food here was okay. Prolly ended up spending more money here than we should of. Plus, we had so much leftover that it was just a waste because we had no fridge and no method of reheating this food. Waste. My eyes are way bigger than my stomach and my need for variety always results in too much food ordered. I supposed this is all just hubby people's problems.

I keep writing Marron 5. Haha. I do not like Maroon 5 wholeheartedly. I like some of their songs here and there such as this Daylight song that big poppa thought was Akon. I also like to boogy down to Moves Like Jagger. Awesome song. This weekend was full of doubleness. I had peking duck twice. Bambu che twice. Char siu twice. Love to eat. Best of all, I capped of my weekend playing cards with some friends. A whole HOUR of VC! Big poppa and i love playing cards and it's been a long time since we've played VC. Such relaxing fun. I'm neither good nor bad at the game. I never win and i never lose. Haha. I'm forever 2nd and 3rd place. And that's how i like it. Haha. It sucks growing up cos there's no one to sit and do nothing with. Like play VC.
