Song: Somebody That We Used To Know
Coming home after a failed freezing run on friday, 96.5 was playing on the radio and then the DJ announces that the next song was a request. Gotye's Somebody That We Used To Know. I didn't like at first but grew to like it by the end. Big poppa didn't like it and said i was weird. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of the song nor was i able to remember any of the lyrics. But come saturday, little sistar e-mails me a youtube video of a group she heard on the radio while coming home from work. I'm sure you know where this is going. You'd expect the song to be on 103.7 and not 96.5. So as I watch the rather cool looking video, i veer off to another video that's a cover of the song by some band from ontario. The beauty of youtube! And the cover is just AWESOME. You can watch for yourself below. The band is called Walking Off The Earth and in their cover of somebody that we used to know, the five members of the band perform the song together on ONE guitar. Gimmicky yes but it's still pretty interesting to watch just because they've all got this serious look on their faces. The second vid is their cover of Adele's someone like you. And it's just equally as awesome cos the girl singing has such a pretty voice. Not a strong voice like adele but still really nice. She starts off singing and playing the piano AND working the bass drum. Then a bandmate comes and takes over while she gets up and sings at the mic. And then as she's singing, a ukelele drops from above and she catches and starts strumming and singing. Towards the end, the guy at the piano/bass drum gets replaced by another bandmate and he grabs the double bass and starts playing that! I wish i were friends with these people so that they would invite me to have jam sessions with them. Ugh. My life is boring.
