This song is a Alanis Morissette's cover of Seal's Crazy. And i think it sounds great. But i love alanis so she's got a lower bar than other artists who attempt covers. As i've mentioned before, her jagged little pill was the very first american album i ever bought and that was in middle school. Prior to that, i mostly listened to hong kong pop music and never even bothered with the radio. Man i loved that album. I drove my mom crazy listening to it in the car. So much so that i had to listen to it on my discman with my headphones while in the car. At the middle school that I went to, on valentine's day, my honor society's organization would sell singing valentine's. Everyone would group off, select and rehearse a song, and then anyone from the student body could pay for us to go sing to whomever. My friends and I chose Head Over Feet from that album. Okay you could prolly safely say that i chose that song. Well, no one at my school really knew the song so we really didn't get picked all that much. We maybe sang twice and that was because my homeroom teacher paid for one of them. I think the group who picked Mariah Carey's Fantasy had the most singing valentine's. Ugh. Not a fan.

Event: Yelapa Yelp Event

Since i go out to eat so much, a lot of people are always asking me if i yelp, or that i should be yelping. Which sometimes i think that i should cos i sure do utilize yelp every time i go eat at a new restaurant. Unrequited viewing. I use it but offer nothing back in return. But you know. I got a blog i need to maintain! Which i have been doing a really poor job at by the way. Even though i'm not a yelper, miss emdee sure is. She's not only a yelper but an elite yelper. Which means that she gets invited to their special events. She invited me to come along to one that was being hosted by Yelapa. Free food? I'm so there! There was tequila tasting, free chapstick (which you know i took a lot of), a photobooth and of course food! The crappy thing was that there was just too little food for the amount of people that were there. And so when something was brought out, SWARMA! I'm no wallflower so i managed to get some food with the help of miss emdee who's even less than a wallflower than i am. I love photobooths so of course we partook in that. Twice. There's one shot where i bent down to pick something up that i had dropped and the camera went off so miss emdee's posing alone. Haha. Yelapa is known for their ceviche but unfortunately, they have since closed down. Pooey. In any case, the best ceviche that i've had was the one over at the grove restaurant at discovery green. Delish!

Holiday: Thanksgiving 2011

This thanksgiving, it was all about the dogs. A year or two ago, my dad calls me and tells me that this really cute puppy had wandered into our family's business. Since everyone in our family are big animal lovers, i already knew my dad wanted to keep her. My fobby parents took her home and named her puppy. Yeah. That's right. Puppy. As caring as they are, they aren't the most responsible dog owners. They don't do routine vet visits and let her go out and about as she pleases. My sisters and i lecture them all the time and i even tried to scare my mom with stories of her puppy being taken away but they don't really care. Puppy soon grew up and met a boy. It was kinda cute cos her and the boy dog really looked like thet were dating and were always hanging out. It wasn't too long until my mom told us that she thot puppy was preggos. Seriously?!? Puppy had her puppies and my crazy mom decided that she was gonna keep ALL OF THEM. How many puppies were there? Little puppy had SIX puppies. It was kind of hard to blame her cos any of us would have done the same if we were in her shoes. I want to say that the pups are now about six months or so. Puppy and her boyfriend are still together. So for thanksgiving, my sisters had the grand idea of bringing all the puppies to our house. I was worried that tino and neo would be mean to them but i think they were caught off guard and overwhelmed and knew that they were outnumbered. Everything was a lot calmer than i thot it would be. I was super tired from preparing food the night before as well as the day of so i didn't play with them all too much. But they are so cute. Three of them are shy and three are a little more outgoing. They all look really different too. I didn't make a lot of dishes but it still took forever for things to be ready. I marinated chicken wings and some pork ribs which big poppa grilled up. I also tried making these cute baked mac and cheese in the shape of mini cupcakes that i had at hummus's bday party. They weren't as good. The last few things i made were some seasoned potato wedges and some crostinis to make bruschettas. My mom fried up some eggrolls cos i always want eggrolls. For dessert, my aunt brought over her famous tirimisu. It was so good. I know i'll be having a little everyday until it's all gone. That night, the plan was to head over to the outlets on 290 for some shopping but we just didn't feel like making the long drive. Instead, we headed on over to meyerland and then the galleria around 1am. The line at best buy and old navy were loooong. The checkout line at target snaked all the way to the back of the store. Big poppa and i walked around trying to see what items people were willing to wait in that long line for. The checkout line at urban outfitter's was also super long. The only thing that i ended up buying that night was a gingerbread latte for big poppa and a mocha latte for me.

Trippin': Washington D.C. - FDR Memorial

I'm feeling kinda under the weather today. It would have been nice to have been able to continue sleeping this morning since it was perfect gloomy sleep in weather. But there was work to be done before my week ends early. Like in today early. I wish i could think about relaxing but i've got a lot of things to prep for thanksgiving. Thankfully, the entire family isn't coming over. Haha. I've got my menu set and tomorrow will be grocery shopping galore. And my mind is so absorbed with mentally preparing myself for the next few days that instead of writing about the blog topic and i'm just spilling my current thots onto this post instead. I'm thinking this is gonna be a short day. FDR's memorial is huge! And why should i expect any less from the man who had the longest running term as president. I remember from school that he had the law changed just so he didn't have to be capped off at two terms. Politics and Government aren't particularly my strongest topics although i'm gradually becoming more interested in it. And i'm quite fascinated with FDR's presidency and life as i'm reading about it. My first memory of FDR was in the movie Annie, as in the orphan. Anyone else seen that movie? Now i want to find it and watch it again. Maybe i'll make everyone watch it for thanksgiving. Haha. Ironically, i was singing Tomorrow really loudly at home the other day and asked big poppa if he knew what i was singing. He didn't. And he had never heard of little orphan annie. Really?!? Bubble child. I can already picture us watching the movie and hearing him say what? hard knock life isn't jay z's song? Haha.
