Musik Mundi: The Script

The Script
Album: The Script (2009)
Song: The Man Who Can't Be Moved

So I'm not sure if I like this song? I haven't really listened to it enough to know if I really like yet. It's not bad. It has it's catchy parts. I'm in a music dry spell at the moment so I had to peruse the archives for something that I hadn't posted yet. I like that one song that The Script has on the radio so I got some songs from their album a little while ago and never previewed them. It's just so much hassle sometimes uploading and syncing new songs onto the ipod. I'm lazy. If I ever win the lottery, I'm mos def hiring all kinds of help. A driver. A cook. A maid. A personal assistant. A dog walker. And then when babies come into the picture, I'll hire a nanny and a night nurse. I'm not so much the ambitious person. I don't want to do it all on my own. Haha!

Persona Grata: Kevin Tran

Tonight, big poppa and I made our way through heavy traffic to get to The Drinkery, where our friend Kevin Tran was having a gathering or viewing get together for the premiere of the reality show that he was a contestant on. He's on this new reality show on NBC called America's Next Great Restaurant. The whole concept of the show is kinda whatevs, but I'm just so excited that mister funny man had made it onto such a huge network! Unfortunately, he didn't make it past the first episode and his air time was very limited. Even so, I think it's still such an accomplishment to have gotten that far and what an awesome opportunity! The judges/investors are Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone (currently in the process of becoming over-exposed by appearing way too much on television), one of the owners of Chipotle and some woman. You can catch more of Kevin Tran on his cooking youtube channel, Tran Can Cook.

Gastron Om Nom: Owl Cake Pops

For x-mas, I received a cake pops book and I finally made some. A co-worker was having a baby shower and I decided I wanted to make some owl cake pops for the event. My issue with making these cute cake pops is all the little odds and ends you have to buy in order to create the eyes, nose, arms and feet. It just all starts adding up. I started around ten at night and didn't finish til about four in the morning. OMG I was freaking exhausted. But you know. I started it, so I had to finish. Plus, they ended up looking so darn cute! Very imperfect but cute. No two owls looked even remotely the same. Haha. I used boxed red velvet cake mix and semi-sweet chocolate coating. Everyone seemed to enjoy them and said they were good even though I thot they were maybe too sweet? After reading the cake pops book a little more thoroughly, I realized that all this time, I was supposed to thin out the chocolate coating so that it would be easier to coat the cake balls. Well, now I know!

Some of the supplies used for the owl cake pops.

The cake has to be formed into these trianglarish shapes and then chocolate chips are applied with melted chocolate to act as the 'ears'.

Restaurant: Post Oak Grill

1550 Lake Pointe Pkwy #500
Sugar Land, TX 77478

For the first time since I began dating big poppa, we finally celebrated geetar's birthday. I feel so bad! We're such bad friends! We had dinner at Post Oak Grill in Sugarland. That area keeps getting nicer and nicer! I finally got to meet his super adorable niece. It's nice to see all the brothers with their significant others. Most of the people in the group ordered steak. I ordered some pasta dish with chicken that wasn't all that great. I was thinking that it sounded close to this one pasta dish i had at vic and anthony's but it wasn't even close. You prolly only want to order some kinda steak to really get the most out of the restaurant here. I guess that's how it is at most restaurants. For dessert, geetar's gf bought cupcakes from celebrity. Yums! I love cupcakes.
